Help a parent or partner start safely

Sit beside them and let them choose the first task.

How to do it

Ask what they would actually like help with. Demonstrate one low-stakes prompt, then let them try. Show how to ask a follow-up and how to stop or clear a chat. Agree on what stays private.

Prompt to try

Give me three simple dinner ideas using carrots, eggs, and rice. Ask me before assuming I have other ingredients.

A fictional example

Sam sits with his father, who chooses a dinner idea. His father rejects one suggestion and asks for something that uses only one pan.

Keep private

Use their own device and account with their consent. Do not take over passwords or upload their letters or medical records.

Before you rely on the answer

Together, check any cooking safety details or allergy information against a reliable source; remind them that an answer can sound certain and still be wrong.
